About ALS:

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease and motor neuron disease, is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that affects adults of all ages. It is closely related to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s. ALS targets large brain cells residing in the brain and along the spinal cord called motor neurons. In ALS, as motor neurons get sick and die, a person progressively loses the ability to move: to walk, speak, swallow, and breathe. ALS is usually fatal within 2-5 years of diagnosis.

Letter from Adam:

Hey guys!

I’m Adam Breneman. Most of you probably know me as a grad of Cedar Cliff High School and a current Penn State football tight end. While I catch a lot of passes on the football field, I want to talk right now about catching something a lot bigger than just football. Right now, thousands of people in the United States have Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease. It has a fancy long name, but the horror of the story is that ALS is a degenerative disease that kills over the course of a few years, and it has no cure... YET.

This disease hits very close to the Cedar Cliff football family and me. Tom Kirchhoff is a 1989 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, was the star quarterback of the football team, went on to play at Lafayette College, and had a short stint in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is now married with four great young kids, and an executive of a local business. About two years ago Tom was diagnosed with ALS. Since then, the Kirchhoff family and the Cedar Cliff family have taken the mindset that “We Will Win!” And we need your help. Any donations you make will go to Project ALS, to get the best doctors, researchers, and scientists in the world and help them “catch” the cure for this horrible disease.

Here's how to help: click on the donate tab on the top of the website to get started. Then click on the link, and it will take you to our donation page. Any donation you decide to make can help catch the cure for this horrible disease.

Even the smallest donations can make an unspeakable impact on the thousands suffering from this disease. So what are you waiting for? We need your help. And with it, WE WILL WIN!

Thank you for your help. It truly will make a difference.

Sincerely,

Adam Breneman
